Gibraltar ganó Miss World 2009









La representante de Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino, fue proclamada hoy Miss World 2009 en Johannesburgo tras el tradicional desfile de 16 finalistas, elegidas de entre 112 concursantes procedentes de todos los continentes.

Aldorino, que recibió además el premio "Miss Belleza Playera", tuvo a la mexicana Perla Beltrán Acosta y a la sudafricana Tatum Keshwar como primera y segunda dama de honor, respectivamente.

El espectáculo de luces, colores y sonrisas deslumbrantes que caracterizan al famoso concurso de belleza femenina -propiedad de Miss World Limited- se celebró este año en el Centro de Convenciones Gallagher, a las afueras de Johannesburgo.

Las jóvenes, que llegaron el 14 de noviembre a Johannesburgo, participaron antes de la final en concursos previos que eligieron a "Miss Mundo Deportista" 2009, que ganó Miss Japón; "Miss Belleza Playera", que recayó en la gibraltareña; "Mejor modelo", en el que se impuso la representante mexicana, y "Mejor talento", en la que compartieron el primer puesto las de Canadá y de Sierra Leona.

El último evento especial antes de la elección de Miss Mundo fue el premio a la "Mejor belleza con un propósito", que recayó en la representante de India.

Sudáfrica ha sido el país anfitrión de Miss Mundo en nueve ocasiones y este es el segundo año consecutivo que el evento es organizado en Johannesburgo.

Pese a todo el esplendor de la gala final, esta edición se ha visto empañada por dos historias, con visos de escándalo, publicadas por el semanario Mail and Guardian, al que Miss World Ltd. trató de silenciar mediante un recurso de amparo, que no prosperó.

Una se refería al vínculo de Miss Indonesia, Kerenina Sunny Halim, con "La Familia Internacional" (anteriormente llamado "Los Niños de Dios"), controvertido culto de corte integrista evangélico involucrado en supuestos actos de pederastia.

La otra son las críticas recibidas por las autoridades de Johannesburgo por gastar 90 millones de rand (12 millones de dólares) en las festividades de Miss Mundo cuando la municipalidad ha tenido que reducir su presupuesto anual debido a la difícil situación económica.


Miss World Limited ha puntualizado que las concursantes participan en actividades sociales, culturales y humanitarias en línea con el postulado de "Belleza con un propósito" que sostiene la compañía.

Miss France 2010 Winner - Malika Menard, Miss Normandie







Miss Normandy, Malika Menard, 22, was elected Saturday night in Nice Miss France 2010 before Miss Rhône-Alpes who has been designated “first runner.”


Malika Menard, who lives in Caen, where she studied law, became the 63rd winner of this ceremony, broadcast live on TF1.

She was chosen by a public vote from among five finalists: Miss Rhone-Alpes, Miss Bretagne, who became second runner, Miss Provence, third runner, and Miss Quercy-Rouergue, fourth runner.

For the first time this year, Miss France has been chosen by a vote conducted entirely by the public among five finalists who have themselves been designated in a mixed voting shared 50/50 between the public and the jury chaired by the actress and singer Arielle Dombasle.

The new Miss, elected before four thousand people gathered at Nikaia Palais, would give, after her election, a press conference along with Genevieve de Fontenay president of Miss France Committee.

Miss Normandie, Malika Menard wins the Miss France 2010 beauty pageant held on December 5. She was crowned by Chloe Mortaud, Miss France 2009. She will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2010 pageant and Miss World 2010 in Vietnam.

Miss World 2009 Top Model Final





 
Miss Mexico, Perla Beltran, won the Miss World Top Model 2009 competition held at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg and she is now fast tracked into the semifinals of the pageant. Miss Vietnam finished in second place and Miss Martinique ended up in third place. This is the second time Mexico wins the Top Model competition, first time was in 2004.
